The WEIRs listed below arrived in Northumberland County, Ontario from Ireland between about 1829 and 1837. Census and church records indicate that they were Protestant Irish. My assumption is that they were all related, but more research is required to be certain. The notes following the table below outline the connections I have found so far. If you are descended from any of these lines, please contact me. I have lots of information to share. Maybe we can untangle this mystery together.

parents' names on registration as William and Mary WEIR; John deceased
1888 - leaves estate to William WILEY, wife and children and nephew
Willliam WEIR of Cobourg; Although supported by naming patterns of their children, the assumption that William WILEY's wife
Sarah was daughter of Rachel and John can not be confirmed at present. Marriages of their children claim mother's maiden name was CLARKE. If nephew William is son of
Lancelot & Margaret, then John and Lancelot were brothers |

In the 1871 census the family is in Usborne township, Huron County, concession 1, lot 11 (NA C 9929, district 25, div C2, page 31, line 12). In the 1881 census, Ann is shown as a widow, living in Exeter village (NA C13272, Huron South C1, page 3, line 16) The Alnwick property is owned by George and John BURKILLE on 1871 census. Interesting to note that
Thomas' first two children's godparents were Robert and Agnes BURKILL; Thomas Weir, Plaintiff made a legal claim in 1872 against a number of WEIRs, their spouses and children regarding the sale of property owned by James Weir at the time of his death, i.e. S ½ lot 11, 2nd concession, Hamilton Township, Northumberland County. What legal right did Thomas have to this property? Would he have had to have been related to James in order to make such a claim?
